Ashtakoota Gun Milan — Vedic marriage compatibility calculator. Check your horoscope matching score across 8 Kootas for a total of 36 points

What is Kundli Milan (Gun Milan)?

Kundli Milan, also known as Gun Milan or Ashtakoota Milan, is the ancient Vedic practice of matching horoscopes before marriage. Practiced for thousands of years across India, this system evaluates 8 aspects (Kootas) of compatibility based on the Moon's position (Nakshatra) in the birth charts of the prospective bride and groom.

The 8 Kootas — Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot, and Nadi — together yield a maximum score of 36 points (Gunas). A score of 18 or above is generally considered favorable for marriage. The most important Koota is Nadi (8 points), which relates to health and genetic compatibility. If both partners share the same Nadi, it creates Nadi Dosha, which is considered inauspicious.

Enter the birth dates of both partners above to receive your Gun Milan score with a detailed breakdown of all 8 Kootas. Note that for precise results, exact birth time and location are needed to calculate the Moon's true Nakshatra. Our calculator uses a simplified astronomical approximation.
