Understanding Biorhythms

Biorhythm theory proposes that our lives are influenced by three biological cycles that begin at birth and oscillate in predictable sine waves throughout our lifetime. The theory was developed in the late 1800s by Wilhelm Fliess, a colleague of Sigmund Freud, and later refined by Alfred Teltscher.

The Physical cycle (23 days) affects your strength, endurance, and overall physical well-being. The Emotional cycle (28 days) governs your mood, sensitivity, and creative capacity. The Intellectual cycle (33 days) influences your analytical thinking, memory, and communication skills.

When a cycle is in its positive phase (above zero), that area of your life is at peak performance. During negative phases, it is a time for rest and reflection. The most important days to watch are critical days — when a cycle crosses zero and transitions between phases, creating potential instability.
